Should Millionaires Indulge (games) In Charity?
No commentsBy Tom Wilson
The topic is indeed a highly debated one. On one hand, millionaires who give free money are considered as people with great compassion for the society whereas on the other hand, it is worth noting that millionaires who give free money as donations, might be doing so for the benefit of tax deductions. Both the arguments hold good in todays scenario. But if I am asked my personal opinion on this, then my answer would be a sure yes, supporting the fact that millionaires who give free money as charity, are definitely a boon to the society.
I will take you through a variety of reasons as to why I support this opinion. I believe that it would be a very nice thing if millionaires across the world come ahead and donate some of their highly accumulated wealth towards charity. It would affect the least in the accounts of millionaires who give free money to charity. The sea does not get affected if we take some water out of it and give it to the person who is actually in need of it. Millionaires who give free money as donations should see to it that their money is canalized to people who are dying due to lack of food, shelter and proper medical aid. There is no dearth of people who would bless those millionaires who give free money, which in turn becomes the source of survival for them.
I also believe that there should not be any kind of unequal distribution of wealth in the society. It brings about a complicacy in the economic structure of any country. When a country boasts of its share of millionaires, one should also look at the darker side, having people below the poverty line. This is where millionaires, who give free money, should come into the picture and give a share of what they have to people who do not have even proper living conditions. Millionaires who give free money as charity set themselves as examples of being responsible citizens of a society.
I agree to the fact that, government of a state uses the tax paid by its citizens for the welfare of its people but it is commendable that millionaires who give free money as charity should come on their own to serve the society. Small contributions from millionaires count a lot for deprived people. For them, millionaires who give free money are like a blessing in disguise. However, these small contributions will not affect the grand lifestyle of the millionaires, but it would bring about a sea of change for the people who need it.
Millionaires who give free money as charity and donations should learn to do it selflessly. They should find their own happiness in the happiness of others. A whole society gains from those millionaires who give free money as charity. The future generations of those millionaires who give free money, become the recipients of numerous blessings. Thus, millionaires who give free money are no doubt the idols of an emerging society.

Is Online Gambling Really Recession-Proof?
By john mce
Despite the current financial crisis, the online gambling market continues to grow. With increasing fuel costs, cheap broadband and a smoking ban in all licensed premises in the UK, it seems gamblers are leaving the gas guzzlers in the garage and playing online poker or placing bets on sporting events from the comfort of their own home.
Sportingbet, the online gambling site has reported no signs of a slow down due to the credit crunch, as more and more people have a flutter on their computers.
The website operator reported a 30 per cent increase in revenues during August and September, and recent trading is even stronger. It said it had seen no evidence of negative impact on business from recent events in financial markets. Shares in the company have rose 7.4 per cent to 29p.
William Hill, the second biggest bookmakers in the UK recently bought up online gambling software provider PlayTech and claims to have transformed itself into Europe’s leading online gaming and sports betting business.
The Sunday Mercury reported recently that Midlanders spent 55 million pounds more on lottery tickets in 2008, as gamblers hope to beat the credit crunch and scoop a tidy sum.
It’s certainly helping Google out
Last month saw Google, the world’s number one search engine, reverse its policy on displaying gambling related advertising. In 2007 Google introduced a blanket ban on all forms of gambling-related advertising, including play-for-fun sites. Now gambling advertisers have been briefed on the new system, which allows for terms such as “poker” and “online gambling” to have paid advertisements included in their search results.
Now gambling-related ads will be displayed to users in the UK, although they will be subject to Google’s “safe search” filters, and that the ads will only appear in search results, and not Google’s content network.
The changes will only be applied in Great Britain, while the rest of the world will still not be seeing adverts for gambling in their search results. Great Britain is seen as a gambling-friendly nation. Some think Google’s U-Turn has less to do with cultural sensitivity and more to do with trying to preserve their revenue stream in tough times.
So what with traditional high street bookmakers like William Hill suddenly trying to get a slice of the online gambling market, and Google opening the floodgates for online gambling advertisers, the UK is the online gambling capital of the world. Google will carry on forbidding gambling advertising for the rest of the world, as some claim the UK is being used as guinea pigs.

Mobile Games - Cheap and Handy Fun for Anyone

Anyone remember Tetris? How about Myst? I know, probably only us old timers remember, and many of us still revel at the thoughts of finally beating that monster that stole the princess as we anxiously attempted to pass through the many worlds of the first ever Mario Bros video game on our modest first Nintendo consoles. Do you think Mario or Luigi could have predicted how far they would come?
Video games have come a long way, and have spread to sophisticated designer home consoles, computer gaming and mobile hand helds that are far more advanced and with bigger and better digital capabilities and graphics. And, mobile phones have not been left behind in the world of gaming. Same as music ringtones, cell phone games allow users to personalize their phones and make them usable way beyond just receiving and making calls.
Mobile Games
The first ever cell phone game was Snake released in 1997 as an embedded application for Nokia phones. It’s doubtful that the Finnish mobile giant knew at the time that this simple addition would forever alter the function of a cell phone. With Snake, and the tons of mobile games that followed, cell phones became much more that just communication devices and became entertainment for the modern age.
What is the fascination with video gaming? Well, for the most part we are obsessed with gadgets and technology overall. And, the fact that millions of video games are sold every year and people slept outside as long as three days just to have the chance to get their hands on Playstation 3 supports this.
The answers to the fascination with mobile games may be more simplistic. While gaming in general whether, computer, console or hand held is huge business, and an activity which people spend a lot of money and ample time weekly engaging in whether alone or with friends and family, mobile games probably serve a little different and more pragmatic purpose.
For example, while commuting on a train to work or to pass the time waiting in a doctors waiting room. And, while video games can be a much more social event, mobile games are usually played solo, and are a great way to engage the mind and create a fun activity anywhere and anytime. Also, while the gaming hobby can be a significant expense, mobile games are very cheap, and there are many standard free games that come with most cell phones.
Today, there are hundreds of different mobile games to suit any fancy. From, quiz games like Trivial Pursuit, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, to card and board games, arcade, racing, shoot ‘em up, 3D, brain twisters, lifestyle games, and many more, there is a game to suit everyone and anyone.
